Using the Same Landing Page for multiple traffic sources
In this article we will describe what you need to do in order to use SAME landing page for multiple campaigns with multiple Traffic Sources.
There are 2 types of traffic sources out there:
- Traffic source that allow redirects (like PropellerAds, Taboola, MGID, RichAds, etc)
- Traffic sources that don't allow redirects (like Google Ads, Meta Ads, Microsoft Ads, etc)
When you run traffic to the same landing page from multiple sources, you want to be able to identify the exact source for the visitor.
Next we will show you how to get every campaign setup in CPV Lab (opens new window) or CPV One (opens new window) in order to never miss a visit or conversion.
There are 3 scenarios:
- Traffic sources with Redirects - You run traffic only from traffic sources that accept redirects (like TrafficStars, PropellerAds, etc).
- Traffic without redirects - You run traffic only from traffic sources that don't accept redirects (organic, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Bing Ads)
- Combined traffic - You combine the traffic and run traffic from sources with redirects and from sources without redirects
TIP
This approach works the same for CPV Lab (opens new window) (self-hosted ad tracker) or CPV One (opens new window) (cloud hosted ad tracker).
Traffic with Redirects
- Preconditions:
- If you run multiple campaigns on different traffic sources that accept redirects (this is the case for many affiliate media buyers running campaigns on PropellerAds, MGID, ADXAD, Pushground,TrafficJunky etc).
- You want to use SAME landing page for all your campaigns
Below is described this scenario and your setup in CPV Lab and in your landing page.
1. Add the landing page
- Add the Landing page in the landing page management page
- this is the landing page you want to use in multiple campaigns from multiple traffic sources
2. Create the campaign in CPV Lab | CPV One
- Create the campaigns in CPV tracker normally
- make sure you select the same landing page for each campaign
3. Add Tracking Code in the landing page
- Place the code from the "Links & Pixels" -> "Step2: Place in your landing page" in your landing page
- Important: you need to place this code only ONCE from any of the campaigns you run using this page
4. Create the campaign at the Traffic Source
- Setup the campaigns with your traffic sources and start running traffic
- Use the Campaign URL from CPV Lab | CPV One when you create a campaign with your traffic source
Traffic without redirects
Preconditions:
- If you run multiple campaigns on different traffic sources that don't accept redirects (this is the case for Google Ads, Meta Ads or Microsoft Bing Ads).
- You want to use SAME landing page for all your campaigns
When you run traffic from traffic sources that don't accept redirects there are 2 cases based on which the setup is a little different:
- You don't run Facebook Ads
- You run Facebook Ads
1. Without Meta Ads
Let's assume you run Google Ads and Bing Ads campaigns.
- This means that you will follow the following steps to setup your campaigns:
1. Add the landing page
- Add the Landing page in the landing page management page
2. Create the campaigns in CPV Lab | CPV One
- Create separate campaigns for Google Ads and Bing Ads in CPV tracker.
- make sure you select same landing page for all campaigns
3. Add Tracking Code in the landing page
- Place the code from the "Links & Pixels" -> "Step2: Place in your landing page" in your landing page
- NOTE: you need to place this code only ONCE! Take the code from any of the campaigns created in CPV Lab at step 2 above.
4. Create the campaign at the Traffic Source
- Create the campaigns with your traffic sources and run traffic
- make sure that you define your ads in Google or Bing using the Final URL Suffix data provided in each campaign setup page.
WARNING
This Final URL Suffix (URL Parameters) will ensure that each visitor gets tracked in the correct campaign inside CPV Lab or CPV One. So, it is important to get the right "Final URL Suffix" provided by CPV tracker for each campaign and use it when you create the campaign with your traffic source.
2. With Meta Ads and other traffic sources (like Google Ads or Microsoft Ads)
- Preconditions:
- If you run multiple campaigns on different traffic sources that don't accept redirects and one of them is Facebook (Meta) Ads
- You want to use SAME landing page for all your campaigns
Below is described this scenario and your setup in CPV Lab and in your landing page.
WARNING
- Important: If one of your traffic sources is Facebook Ads, then this traffic source has priority when adding the tracking code.
1. Add the landing page
- Add the Landing page in the landing page management page
2. Create the Meta campaign in CPV Lab | CPV One
- Create the Facebook (Meta) campaign in CPV tracker normally.
3.Add Tracking Code in the landing page
- Place the code from the "Step2: Place in your landing page" in your landing page
- NOTE: you need to place this code only ONCE! Take the code from CPV tracker from the Facebook campaign.
4. Create the other campaigns in CPV Lab | CPV One
- Setup the other campaigns in CPV Lab by selecting other traffic sources (for example Google Ads
5. Create the campaign at the Traffic Source
- Setup the campaigns with your traffic sources and run traffic
- make sure that you define your ads in Meta, Google or Bing using the Final URL Suffix data provided in each campaign setup page.
WARNING
This Final URL Suffix (URL Parameters) will ensure that each visitor gets tracked in the correct campaign inside CPV Lab or CPV One.
When one of your traffic sources is Facebook, it is important that the tracking code from the landing page is taken from the Facebook campaign in CPV Lab.
Combined traffic
In this scenario we will assume you run traffic to your landing page from:
- traffic source with redirects (like Adsterra for example)
- traffic without redirects (like Meta Ads, Google Ads, Bing Ads)
For this scenario the setup is similar with one of the above:
- if you run traffic from Meta Ads + traffic from a traffic source with redirects
- then you need to follow the steps from here
- The only difference is that when you start traffic at your traffic source
- For a traffic source with redirects you will use the Campaign URL from CPV Lab
- For Meta Ads (or Google Ads, Bing Ads) you will use the Final URL from the campaign setup page in CPV Lab
- if you run traffic from Google Ads or Bing Ads + another traffic source with redirects
- then you need to follow the steps from here
